Sony Release New Version of XDCAM Transfer

Sony have just released the new version of their XDCAM Transfer Tool for the Mac. Version 2.1 coincides with the introduction of their new cameras, the PMW-EX1R and the PMW-350.

This new version comes with the addition of the following features:

• New XDCAM EX format - 1440x1080 (HQ 35Mbps) is supported
• New XDCAM EX format – 4 Channel Audio is supported
• Apple Final Cut Pro 7 support
• Apple Snow Leopard (10.6) support (XDCAM EX only – XDCAM Professional Disc not supported)

As is stressed in the last point, this is only for XDCAM EX. At the moment, the FAM driver for XDCAM HD & 422 products won’t work under Snow Leopard - this is tipped for early next year. It is also rumoured that there will be a new version of the Log & Transfer plug-in for Snow Leopard on its way very soon.
