Caldigit VR Mini RAID Packs a Punch

The Caldigit VR mini truly is mini; a 2-drive RAID that fits in the palm of your hand (at 2 inches tall and 5 inches wide) and, as expected from any Caldigit drive, it packs a fair punch.

Compact and bus-powered, Caldigit's two-drive RAID system supports a quadruple interface for easy connectivity; USB 2.0, FireWire 400, FireWire 800 and eSATA - making the VR mini extremely versatile. The CalDigit VR mini's modular design provides two removable drive modules allowing for easy replacement / expansion, and an easy to read frontside LCD. With support for RAID 0, 1, and JBOD the CalDigit VR mini can reach speeds fast enough for high definition video editing. It includes easy to use software allowing for firmware updates, configuration, and monitoring and even supports email notification. 

The CalDigit VR mini is bus-powered via FireWire, so no extra power supply is needed. When additional speed is needed use eSATA for data and FireWire for power. The CalDigit VR mini is even smart enough to know which port to use.
Hardware RAID provides an independent CPU and dedicated cache memory to manage the RAID volume. This dedicated process eliminates additional strain in the host system's CPU, allowing applications full access. Software RAID systems rely on the host CPU and RAM which can slow down applications by taxing the workstation's CPU. An advanced environmental monitor provides detailed information about temperature and hard drive health via the LCD or RAID tool software, so you are always in the know. This data is extremely important, especially when using the CalDigit VR mini in the field.

The sleek and sexy design is as functional as it is good-looking. The all-aluminium enclosure provides additional heat dissipation so no fan is needed. The mesh aluminium design matches with many of today's popular workstations and the orange back-lit LCD is easy on the eyes.
